I want to start by saying the first Saturday in each month my mom would always remind me of the workshop and I always hated to get up and attend;however, after getting there it was always interesting. I have always dreamed of being a business owner and a basketball player and seeing two strong African American women in the neighborhood take this non-profit organization and help others with such strong passion. This made me realize that becoming a business owner was not only about been financially set, that it was about running a business and doing what you love doing that along to me mean success. My future plans are to attend UNC-G and major in Pre-Law and one day become the business owner of “McDougald Law Firm”. I realize this will require a lot of work and determination. I want to thank Ms. Pam and Ms. Nell for all their help. I am inspired by what you do and hope and pray one day to be just as successful as you guys are.
Will be attending the University of North Carolina at Pembroke
Think Smart has encouraged me and helped me make goals for myself and believe in myself. When I first started out, it was hard because I didn't know what college I wanted to go to, I didn't know how I was going to pay for college, and I knew so little about the time and hard work that goes into the paperwork. Think Smart guided me through these steps and when I had questions they made it easy to ask them taking the quote “No question is a stupid one” to heart. These few months with Think Smart and their help allowed me to be accepted to four UNC colleges. I know this would not be possible without Think Smart supporting and believing in me. They have become my family and friends and I have to thank them for helping me to be able to stand on my own two feel and preparing me for college life. Thank you!

Think Smart has helped me with my goals. It show me that now more than ever; everyone has to fight for what you want. I believe this program is a success because everyone does something to make it better. It does not matter how small it is. I thank Think Smart for everything that the members did for me and for how nicely they welcome me into the program.

Think Smart has been a positive influence in my life. Think Smart is another parent in my life. The lessons that Think Smart has taught me can not be replaced. I has provided me with necessary tools needed for the real world of higher education. Think Smart an advocate for staying in high school, competing the journey of graduating, and setting goals to achieve a higher education. Education is an important tool that is needed in this 21st Century. Think Smart is a program that has assisted me and my family by helping with college applications, encouraging me on my SAT testing dates, and giving me the necessary feedback to assure me that I had done well on my scoring, even when I felt as if I hadn't. Ms. Pam was very inspiring and told me I had done an excellent job (when I felt as if I had not). This program has assured me that everybody can learn if he or she is willing to. Think Smart works hard to provide community services for others, inch which I am glad I took part in. I t has influenced my life by allowing me to lift up the lives of others. This is so important especially when you want to be lifted up yourself. Think Smart has taught me to praise others for the little things in life. Nothing is giving to you free; you must work for everything you want in this world. Rather it is a job or education. Think Smart has provided me the desire of achieving a higher education. Think Smart provided field trips to college campus so that I could experience exactly what life away from home would be like. I was recommend that every student try to attend a meeting at this organization. Think Smart has taught me how to think about my actions towards others and to think smart about everything I do before doing.

Think Smart has not only been there whenever I needed them but they have taught me many things. First, I would like to thank you for all the wonderful friendships that I have made through this program. At first, I was a little anti-social but I have learn to love all different people. Secondly, I would like to thank Ms. Pam for always being there when I called her 50 times a day. She has been very patient and compassionate about helping out with applications and all the crazy questions that I may asked. I also appreciate the financial assistance that has been provided for college through this program. The biggest influence that is program has had on my life is to be a helping hand. I see that each individual that works in this program is very helpful and kind. They are always there not only for each other but the people that are part of this wonderful program. Thanks for all the help and advice that has been given to me and may God continue to smile upon each and everyone of you.....again. Thanks!

Think Smart has made such an impact in my life. Ms. Pam and Ms.Nell have helped me so much and I couldn't have done it without them.Because of this amazing program, I was able to meet new friends and experience what my life could be like when I go to college. Think Smart has truly influenced and impacted my life. I have become more open and willing to meet new people thanks to Think Smart. I have also been able to give back to the community and become a great leader. Every child should be apart of this program because it will carry them a long way and help start a better future.

I'm so glad to be a graduate from THINK SMART OUTREACH CENTER. This organization has really effected my life in a positive way. At first I was just in the athletic program, but then I had a serious talk with Ms. Pam and my mother and I entered the pre-collegiate program. I buckled down and got serious in my books. If it wasn't for this organization, I really don't think I would have made it through high school. I might would've made it, but without Ms. Pam and Ms. Nell I would not have got accepted into Elizabeth City State University. Before I became a cougar, I was not happy with my life; NOW I am happy! Success is not the key to happiness, Happiness is the key to success. Thank you for everything!

Think Smart has been in my life for about two years, I have participated in the basketball team both years. Being a part of Think Smart has allowed me the opportunity to make friendships with people that I never wold have became friends with otherwise. Think Smart has really changed my life. You have been one of the influences for me going to college. I am very proud to be a recipient of the Sharonda C. Williams Scholarship and I want to stress my gratitude to the owners if Think Smart, Ms. Pam and Ms. Nell, for believing in me. Think Smart will always have a special place in my heart and I will proudly share all that I have learned from this organization with my school and neighborhood. Where to start? I'm very happy that I got a chance to be in such a wonderful program. I am also extremely blessed to have been a participant of Think Smart Outreach Center, Inc. for 7 years. Think Smart has went above and beyond as far as helping me with college. I say this a thousand times, "If it was not for Think Smart, I would have be so lost." I am extremely grateful for all the help TSOC has put forth as far as my education. I am a believer of the saying, "God places certain people in your life for a reason." Thanks to you Ms. Pam I will be attending Elizabeth City in the fall of 2010. Looking back at all the years from the wild and playful 5th grader to now a young adult looking toward a bright future of success. Again, Thank You and the Think Smart family for all you have done.

When I joined Think Smart, I didn't think I would have this much fun. I'm constantly surrounded by young people that want to do something with their lives. I was previously in a group, similar to Think Smart, but it was an all girls group but I didn't have much fun as I am having in Think Smart. If I wouldn't have joined Think Smart, I would still be trying to get in college right now. Think Smart has made me grow up and make me realize how to make my own decisions to make it in college and later in life.Think Smart really makes us think smart about our futures. Some people would think that dealing with people our age would be frustrating, but Think Smart thought different. Think Smart has been an influence in my life because they gave me a new life. Thank You.

I would like to thank Think Smart Outreach Center for all they have done for me. I have been a member of Think Smart Outreach Center ever since I was in the 5th grade. Think Smart has opened doors for me being a student athlete, but they have also made me realize that academics come before athletics. I have had the best memories of my life being a member of Think Smart. I would like to send a special thanks to Ms. Pam and Ms. Nell. They have been there whenever I needed them for physical and emotional support. I think of them as my two guardian angels. Think Smart is the best youth organization. I would advise anyone who does not know what they want to do, but know they won't to go to college, I would suggest Think Smart. They will get you on the right path in no time. Going on the campus tours made me want to go to college more. I got to see what college life would be like. I want to thank Think Smart Outreach Center for assisting me into getting into college. I will be attending Livingstone College next year and it's all thanks to Think Smart.

"Sometimes good comes out of every bad event." (Unknown) In my case the bad event was getting cut from the 10th grade basketball team. This was my first time getting cut from a team and the reasons were way beyond my control because they had nothing to do with talent. I definitely wanted to play somewhere because basketball was my life at that point. I heard about a league called Think Smart that was holding a try-out at the Shawtown gym. I immediately began to think of the many great possibilities that came with being on a newly founded team. Little did I know that God had much more in store for me. After becoming a member of the Think Smart basketball team, I became closer to my friends and even made new ones. I was a very shy person but I would let my talent speak on the court. During the season the team owners Ms. Pam and Ms. Nell began to talk to me about my future plans and what I had planned to do after high school. I had no idea about the opportunities Think Smart provided o kids who wanted to go to college. I began to realize that Think Smart was much more than a place to play basketball.
Think Smart continued to check on me during mu junior year of high school and even offered me a job. I began to work there and even though it was my first job, it was the best. I learned a lot of work skills that I could apply later in life. It was a great building block for my life in the work force and could not turn down the paychecks. After one of my days of work was over, I was volunTOLD by Ms. Nell to join the pre-collegiate meeting that afternoon. I had no idea what that was but Think Smart had never steered me wrong so I attended the meeting with a great deal of curiosity. I later became a part of the program my senior year. Without Think Smart I would've been lost with all of the college paperwork and steps. My mom was in Iraq during the application process so Think Smart was truly my guiding rock during it. Most of the application fees were paid for, trips to the colleges were provided and informational meetings were very frequent. I can honestly say that if it wasn't for Think Smart, I would not be attending ECU this fall or I would have done a lot of unnecessary things to reach that point.
Think Smart provided me with many opportunities to learn and become a better person. I learned a lot of work skills and valuable life lessons The trips that we attended were very informative and helped me pick what college I would attend. Think Smart was an absolute necessary part to my life and I can now see that not making the team in 10th grade was all apart of God's plan. the biggest thing that I've learned is that whenever something bad happens, you may not see the good from it but it will come sooner or later.

Think Smart Community Outreach Center Inc, has had such a big impact on my life, these last two years. I have realize more that nothing comes free in life, in order to get something you got to work for it. Think Smart has taught me how important it is to give back to my community, its not always about me and my wants, but giving back. I would also like to tell Think Smart thank you for the many things you all have given me. From giving me a summer job, to helping me get accepted into a great college. I'm also very thankful for the trips and outings we have took to different places. It has really helped me experience and learn new things. Once again I say thank you for everything you have done for me. I encourage you to keep up the awesome work. From the bottom of my heart, I Love You Think Smart.
